Oubaitori

We have no single word to describe this concept in the English language, as the Japanese do, but not only is this true of life, it feels especially true of what we all experience when singing in a choir.

I also talk a lot in choir about allowing notes to blossom and unfurl like a flower so that they are infused with colour and tinged with meaning and vivid resonances. If we didn’t nurture this blossoming and growth of sound, the sounds we create would be extremely dull, just as life itself!
